Our Coeliac Australia Journey

We started our Coeliac Accreditation process just weeks after we opened in June 2020.

We always knew we wanted to be accredited. Even though neither one of us suffers Coeliac Disease, we knew the importance of getting this accreditation and providing everyone a safe and stress free takeaway meal experience.

Why open a gluten free business, you may ask?
Audrey has been a chef for over 10 years and over that time was disappointed in the lack of options available for those who had various dietary requirements,  as well as the lack of training for most kitchen staff (including chefs).

Audrey’s previous business, The Gut Tribe Kitchen, focused on healthy and hearty meals that were gluten and dairy free. When Audrey and Maria met in February 2020, Maria had been searching for ways to adapt her cookies and sweets through FretzyKookie to be more allergy friendly and gluten free. After we decided to open a business that brought together the best of both of our separate businesses, Davies St. Food Co. was born.

We began the accreditation process at the end of June 2020 and completed it in January 2021. Although a strict and lengthy process, all the necessary steps were completed! Hooray to us!

You can rest assured that our staff ensure we are always providing food that is safe, and adheres to Coeliac Australia’s highest standards.

We take pride in offering a safe takeaway food experience, and proud to have staff who care about providing all those with gluten intolerance or Coeliac Disease an enjoyable food experience. They have learnt so much during this process and have done all necessary training because they genuinely care. We always strive to provide new and exciting gluten free food to our amazing community, and hope to do it for many years to come!
